Katherine Johnson

Died : February 24th , 2020

Major Academic Events: Graduated summa cum laude with degrees in mathematics and French from West Virginia State College in 1937.

Contributions to Computer Science: Katherine Johnson is best known for her work at her time at NASA. Most notably, Katherine was responsible for much of the math and calculations that went into safely landing the Apollo rockets on the moon. Her career stands out especially as one of the first African American women involved in spacecraft technologies.
